Upcoming Events

The summer season is a great time to get out with the family and volunteer in the community. Urban Forestry regularly hosts volunteer opportunities, and we would love to have you join us for our next event. Here are some volunteer opportunities scheduled for this summer:

If you are interested in hearing the findings from our recent study quantifying the monetary benefits of trees in Edmond’s residential areas, it’s not too late! Dr. Thomas Hennessey of Oklahoma State University will be in attendance at the next Urban Forestry Commission meeting on June 12th at 4:30 PM to present the study results. This presentation will take place at the Downtown Community Center (28 E Main St) in room 110. Join us and find out what your trees are doing for you in terms of energy conservation, pollution removal, rainfall interception, and property values.

Sometimes Urban Forestry events are scheduled and occur in between mailings and we are unable to include information about those events in Tree Mail. The best way to stay up to date about our tree distributions, volunteer opportunities, and outreach events is by subscribing to receive updates from our online calendar. View the Notification Center to subscribe to our calendar now.

One last date to remember is the deadline for signing up to participate in this fall's Foster-a-Tree planting. This program is first come, first serve, and now is a great time to register to have a tree planted in the right-of-way in front of your home! Registration for the planting this fall closes on September 8th.
