The Urban Forestry Department wishes you a very happy holiday season. What a year it’s been! Thank you for being a part of Urban Forestry programs - we look forward to serving you in 2014. Here are a few reminders about events coming up near the end of the holidays and early in 2014.

Christmas Tree Recycling

– Early January, Hafer Park/Mitch Park
Do you plan to buy a real tree for your holiday decorating? Bring it by Mitch Park or Hafer Park after the holidays so it can be used again! The City of Edmond will chip “recycled” Christmas trees into mulch that Edmond residents may pick up later. Be sure to drop off your tree no later than January 10th! The mulch will be ready at Mitch Park starting on February 7th. Find out more information

Edmond Neighborhood Alliance Summit

– late February, MAC in Mitch Park
Urban Forestry plans to once again have a booth at this annual event. Come and see us if you have any concerns about your trees, if you or your neighborhood would like to participate in the Foster-A-Tree program, or if you need information about tree care and Urban Forestry Department programs and services. Exact date TBA.

E-Tree Awards Nomination Deadline

– February 12th at 12 PM, edmondok.com/etree
The Edmond E-Tree Award recognizes outstanding individuals, civic and nonprofit groups, and businesses that have demonstrated an exceptional effort to grow and improve trees, landscaping, and natural areas in Edmond. The Urban Forestry Commission is currently seeking nominations for this prestigious award, and honorees will be recognized at the City Council during Arbor Week in March.

Arbor Week
