The Urban Forestry Department is now accepting entries for the 2016
Arbor Day Art Contest! The contest is open to fifth grade students at
public, private and home schools located within Edmond City Limits or
within the boundaries of the Edmond Public Schools system. Students will
create two-dimensional artwork surrounding the theme “Trees in Our
Town”. Visit the Arbor Day Art Contest page to view contest rules.
First through third place and an honorable mention will be selected from
each school to participate in the annual Arbor Day Art Show at the
Edmond Historical Society and Museum, from mid March through the month
of April. On top of invitation to a special, family art show reception,
these students receive prizes and recognition for their artistic
interpretations of Edmond’s trees. Details on this year’s recognition
will be announced in the coming months.
Private schools must register if they plan to participate, through the Arbor Day Art Contest online registration form. Does your school not yet participate? Encourage them to sign up! The Arbor Day Art Contest encourages creativity and awareness of the benefits of trees in the community through a fun and engaging program. We look forward to seeing this year’s entries!
