Children's Safety Village

About

The Children’s Safety Village is a life-safety educational facility built in 2010. The child-size village provides a setting where children can prepare and practice real-life situations. The Children's Safety Village is complete with a city park, buildings, streets, traffic lights, and vehicles.

Our primary focus at the Children’s Safety Village is reducing childhood injuries and deaths. The uniqueness of our facility allows us to accomplish this by incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning methods. This creates a one-of-a-kind learning experience that is not available anywhere else in the state.

Programs offered include:

  • Group Tours and Classes (March-October)
  • Children’s Safety Challenge (Summer Months, Fall and Spring Breaks)
  • Winter’s Night at the Safety Village (December)

The Children’s Safety Village currently offers scheduled classes for elementary age groups. These 2-hour classes will allow the students to tour the Safety Village and learn a variety of life saving skills. All classes must be scheduled by calling the Fire Prevention Office at 405-216-7303.

Classes are offered to groups of children Pre-K thru 2nd grade. Our minimum class size is 12 children. Our maximum class size is 50 children. Priority for scheduling will be given to organizations located within the City of Edmond. All attendees will be required to fill out a liability waiver.

Students will learn a variety of life saving skills while attending the Children’s Safety Village. Our educators have developed a curriculum through analyzing local and national childhood injury statistics. Our teaching is focused on the situations and objects that are most likely to harm your child for their respective age. Topics discussed will vary by age group but can include the following: fire and burn prevention, home escape planning, smoke alarms, pedestrian safety, water safety and automobile safety.
