The City of Edmond and University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) are seeking input from the public regarding potential new performing arts facilities in Edmond. The feedback received will be included in the current needs assessment being conducted to determine the feasibility of new facilities.
Interested individuals are invited to attend a community meeting at the UCO Nigh University Center on Wednesday, September 6, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm in Constitution Hall. During the meeting, a presentation will be made regarding the project, and will be followed by an opportunity for Questions & Answers from attendees. Parking will be available at no charge to meeting attendees in the visitor lot directly east of the Nigh University Center.
A consulting team including Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture, Hornbeek Blatt Architects, and Webb Management Services is conducting the research on behalf of the City of Edmond and UCO. They will present their findings to the City Council during a workshop on Monday, November 27, from 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm at the Edmond City Council Chambers (20 South Littler Avenue).
A performing arts center was identified as a potential project by the Capital Improvement Advisory Task Force in 2016. The task force recommended the ½ cent, 10 year sales tax for capital projects that was ultimately approved by Edmond voters in April 2016.
The City of Edmond and UCO are splitting the cost of the needs assessment, a total cost of $170,000, with each entity contributing $85,000.
