What does the city do with my property tax?
The City of Edmond does not normally levy any property tax. The property tax you pay goes to the the Edmond Public School system, Francis Tuttle Vo Tech School, and Oklahoma County.

Unlike most states, Oklahoma law does not permit cities to levy property taxes for operations. In most states, the property tax would equal or exceed sales tax as the primary source of revenue. Sales tax revenue is the only significant tax the City of Edmond receives. Sales tax revenue is 65% of our total General Fund income.

Oklahoma law does provide that cities may levy property taxes to pay for general obligation bond debt or to satisfy legal judgments against cities. The City of Edmond began a three-year levy beginning in 2005 to satisfy a legal judgment.
