  1. Dealing with Difficult Shady Areas

    In order to ensure Edmond maintains a healthy supply of water for the future, the City of Edmond Water Resources Department has partnered with the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Cooperative Extension Service to develop educational outreach to our residents promoting outdoor water conservation. Beginning in April, a series of FREE classes on various outdoor water conservation topics will be available to Edmond water customers. These classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Downtown Community Center (28 E. Main) in room 207. Dealing with difficult shady areas: Aug 15, 10am Shady areas can make it difficult to grow a healthy lawn, but there are many ways to find success in the shade. Common problems and solutions will be addressed, as well as alternatives to traditional turfgrass.

  1. Tai Chi and SAIL Classes Stay Active & Independent for Life: Wednesdays and Fridays

    Come join us for these free exercise programs. Tai Chi class is one of the most effective exercises for the health of mind and body. SAIL (STAYING ACTIVE AND INDEPENDENT FOR LIFE) Sail is a fitness program for older adults, which can be done sitting or standing. Performing exercise that improves strength, balance and fitness is critical for staying active and reducing the risk of falls.The SAIL program was designed with these principals in mind. Each class includes warm-up, stretching, cardio, balance, and strengthening exercise, as well as a cool down. l class involves strength training and working on your balance. Both Classes include a warm up, stretching, cardio balance and strengthening exercises, as well as a cool down. Instructor: Nile Burge, Education Specialist, Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative Pre-Register (limit 18) No Cost! Tai Chi is six weeks and Sail is six weeks back to back.
