Explorer Post 655
The Edmond Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Program is a partnership with the Edmond Police Department and community youth. The Edmond Police Department realizes the value of investing in our future community leaders. The Edmond Police Department established the Explorer Post 655 as a program to foster the leadership development of the youth in our community.

The purpose of Law Enforcement Exploring is to educate and involve youth in police operations in order to interest them in a possible law enforcement or criminal justice career. Through their involvement, youth in the Law Enforcement Explorer program develops an awareness of the complexities of police service and learn valuable lessons about the criminal justice system, public service, volunteering and leadership.

Active members of the Explorer post attend regular meetings, participate in community service projects and participate in regular training. Members can participate in ride-along programs and may be selected to assist Police Officers with large events or administrative/logistics support.

The many benefits of participation in the program include:
  • College/University Scholarships
  • Opportunity to participate in state and national level competition as well as training conventions
  • Federal Leadership Academies (ATF, FBI, DEA, US Marshall and US Army)
  • Build your college resume and prepare for the future
  • Gain educational credit through a partnership with the Francis Tuttle Vo-Tech Criminal Justice Program
  • Improved self confidence, leadership experience, social network development, hands on experience and team building.
