Water Conservation Plan Ends October 1
Residents Asked to Voluntarily Continue to Follow the Conservation Plan
Edmond city officials are reminding residents that the city's water conservation plan ends October 1. The plan, which was approved by the city council in 2002, began June 1 and was aimed at managing summer water use, which can more than double during the hottest, driest part of the season.
Each year beginning June 1, residents are asked to voluntarily use the outdoor watering schedule for lawn watering. The schedule is based on the ending number in the home or business address and provides one week day and one weekend day for outdoor lawn watering.
In addition to the specific outdoor watering days, residents are asked not to water lawns between 7 PM and midnight. This break in watering allows water reserves to be replenished.
Although the plan officially ends October 1, residents are asked to voluntarily continue with the routine of following the schedule set by city officials. In doing so, water resources will be conserved throughout the year.
For more information about the watering schedule and conservation plan levels, residents can visit the city's website at www.edmondok.com. The website also includes tips for indoor and outdoor water conservation.
