City to Webcast Public Meetings

Residents Can Now Watch Meetings Via the Website

Edmond residents have a new venue for watching public meetings. For several years the city has aired City Council and Planning Commission meetings on the local government access cable television channel. A webcast now offers another venue for residents who want to watch these public meetings and have access to the city’s website via the internet.

“Edmond’s elected officials and city management are committed to providing information that encourages public participation,” said Claudia Deakins, director of marketing and public relations. “We are very excited to provide this additional venue for residents who want to be informed about the issues being considered by their planning commission and city council members.”

To view the webcast, residents click on the “Edmond Life TV” link on the homepage of the city’s website at www.edmondok.com Planning Commission meetings are webcast live on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. City Council meetings are webcast on the second and fourth Monday at 5:30 p.m.

“The new venue means that residents have a way to watch the meetings from their office or from their hotel when they travel, “said Deakins.  “Oklahoma City residents whose children attend Edmond schools and business owners who live in other metro area cities will also benefit. The webcast is a great way for people to stay informed about Edmond issues.”

City videos and an information bulletin board will be shown on the webcast when the public meetings aren’t being aired or replayed. The schedule for replay of the council meetings can be found on the website.
