Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer at the Edmond Senior Center

At the Edmond Senior Center we have daily volunteer opportunities available. Share your talents with others by instructing classes, helping with the Senior Nutrition daily lunch program, fund raising, special events and much more.

To give of your time and talent is one of the greatest services one can provide. Without volunteers, it would be impossible for us to provide the quality programs that we offer.

September- Volunteer of the Quarter - Leslie Orvis

Leslie is a retired music educator from Edmond.  She taught vocal music for 30 years at Sequoyah Middle School in Edmond.  She received Edmond Site Teacher of the Year in 2004 and Oklahoma Music Educators’ Association Director of Distinction in 2006.

Leslie’s late husband, Bill, was also a music teacher.  She has two sons, Jason and Luke.  They both live in Edmond and work in the Edmond Public Schools.  Luke teaches and coaches football, wrestling and girls’ track at Memorial High School and Jason is at Cheyenne Middle School.

Leslie’s hobbies are flower gardening and cooking.  She is a judge for vocal music contests and cares for her 4-year-old granddaughter, Macy every day after pre-kindergarten.  Macy is the light of her life!

When asked about her experience directing the Golden Harmonizers, she said, “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with these dedicated singers.  It has helped me get back into the ‘groove’ of music teaching and they have taught ME many things!  Being selected as Volunteer of the Quarter is a special recognition.”
