Trails
Edmond's trails are important part of promoting healthy lifestyles in our city. Our trails enable residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors and be more physically active.
History of Trails in Edmond
In 1985, one and a half mile trail was constructed in Hafer Park. In 1999 the Trails Master Plan was developed jointly by citizens and city officials. The plan identified 37 trail corridors and proposed a 48-mile system of trail linkages throughout the city.
Based on the Hafer Park trail's popularity, six and a half miles of trails were constructed in the Mitch Park/Coffee Creek area in 2002. The outerloop trail circumnavigates the park and connects it to the Coffee Creek neighborhood.
In 2007, the Hafer Park to Fink Park trail was completed. The trail is 6300 linear feet and passes through a heavily wooded upland and lowland forest. The Hafer Park to Fink Park trail was rated as the number one trail link in the 1999 Trails Master Plan.
The Future of Trails
The next objective is the completion of the trails linking Mitch Park, Hafer Park and Bickham/Rudkin Park at 33rd and Boulevard. The plan calls for the main thoroughfare to move from Mitch Park south to Boulevard, around the University of Central Oklahoma, and on to Fink Park where the trail now links with Hafer Park's trail system.
