Our Team

There are many people involved in maintaining service for our 74,000 electric customers. They are the heart of our hometown utility.

Edmond Electric Administrative Staff

We currently have three administrative assistants and one administrative supervisor. They initiate and complete work orders for field crews, as well as answer your questions when you call our office. By maintaining the work order system they enable the field crews to operate efficiently and ensure that problems are resolved quickly.

Edmond Electric Lineman

Edmond Electric linemen complete a four year apprenticeship, with academic and on-the-job training, before becoming a Journeyman Lineman. A Journeyman Lineman performs technical work in construction, and maintenance and repair of power and lighting distribution systems.

Being a lineman is one of the most dangerous professions and it requires a commitment to do the job correctly and safely each and every time. Frequently power outages are caused by ice, sleet, high winds, lightning strikes and storms – not the best of conditions for working with high voltage power lines!

Whether it is 105 degrees or sleeting outside when there is a power outage, Edmond Electric linemen take great pride in getting you back in service as quickly as possible.

Overhead Crew – Responsible for construction, operation, and maintenance of aerial electric lines on poles. Consists of six Linemen and one Crew Supervisor. Three Linemen are responsible for new construction and the other three for maintenance activities.

Underground Crew – Responsible for construction, operation, and maintenance of underground electric lines and related equipment. Consists of six Linemen and one Crew Supervisor. As with the Overhead Crew, three Linemen are responsible for new construction and the other three for maintenance activities.

Service Crew – Consists of ten Linemen and one Crew Supervisor. The Linemen are divided into two 4-men teams and two Linemen independently perform line spots. The Service Crew provides temporary and final service connections, security and street light installation/maintenance, and responds to trouble calls.

Self-Led Team (SLT) – Consists of six Linemen that function as independent work units. The SLT’s are divided into two work units. The Preventive Maintenance SLT (3-Linemen) performs activities on the electric system that will prevent or reduce the number of electrical problems. The Special Projects SLT (3-Linemen) performs tasks necessary for the success of Edmond Electric in a variety of other areas.

Substation Crews – Consists of three people. One substation supervisor and two linemen. Loss of power at a substation could affect as many as 6000 customers. That is why they perform daily/monthly inspections and maintenance on substation equipment.

Warehouse Team – Two people. Without them the field activities would not function smoothly. Their goal is to maintain high stock levels with minimum funds being tied-up in inventory.

Edmond Electric also contracts services that enable our field crews/teams to increase their capabilities in operating and maintaining Edmond’s electric system. These services include underground excavation, tree trimming, large overhead construction projects, and specialty underground cable restoration projects. A few of our contractors are Davey Resources, Asplundh Tree Removal Service, and Doyle Webb, Inc.
