The natural beauty of Edmond is one of the reasons we choose to live here. And we want to make sure we preserve this beauty for generations to come. Now, there’s an easy way to help the environment by participating in the development of electricity from a pure and non-polluting resource - wind.
Edmond Electric has teamed with the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) to offer "pure&simple," a program that will provide a source of pollution-free power to our community to displace power generation that is not as environmentally pure.
Wind as a “fuel” for generating electricity is clean, efficient and generally available to be tapped. The obvious benefit for us is that we save our fossil fuel resources and avoid the environmental impacts associated with burning these fuels.
Wind generation is gentle on the land and does not consume water or other resources. This means the vast majority of the land is undisturbed and can be used productively for farming or ranching while electricity is being produced.
It's Simple
Edmond Electric customers can now sign up for an extraordinary energy option at one of the lowest rates in the nation - only an additional $0.0009 per kilowatt-hour (kWh)!
Naturally, homes powered by 100% wind will have a more positive impact for our future generations. However, customers are welcome to sign up for any 100 kWh block increment.
Signing up is simple. Just look for sign up forms in utility statements, sign up online, at the Utility Customer Service window, or call your utility customer service representative at (405) 359-4541.
