Residential Services Overview
The base monthly rate for residential services is $10.25 per month and includes weekly curb or roadside collection of a 105-gallon collection cart, and an 18-gallon recycling bin. If you live in a smaller household or are an avid recycler, you can request a 64-gallon trash collection cart, which reduces your monthly rate to $9.25.
Your trash collection cart and your recycling bin are collected on the same day of the week, but may be collected at different times of the day. The automated cart services provide weekly collection for trash, including lawn and yard waste such as grass clippings, leaves, and vegetation pruning.
City-Coded Bags and Additional Carts
If you occasionally have more trash than your cart can hold, you can purchase city-coded bags which are $1.50 each and are available in packages of ten 30-gallon bags. If you frequently have more trash than your cart can contain, you can request an additional 105-gallon cart for $3.30 per month.
If you are adding a second cart permanently, there is no fee for delivery of the cart. If you request a seasonal or temporary cart for a minimum of three months, there is a $5 pick up fee when the carts are returned.
Hazardous Household Waste
Edmond has an agreement with Oklahoma City that allows you to use the Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) collection facility located at SW 15th and Portland. Take your driver's license and a copy of your current City of Edmond utility statement for proof of residency.
For a fee, Edmond residential solid waste service customers can dispose of hazardous chemicals at the facility. Chemicals that are accepted include pesticides, paints, polishes, cleaners, and automotive supplies such as oil, antifreeze and batteries. Automotive and implement tires cannot be accepted at the facility.
The Environmental Protection Agency regulations make it illegal to discard hazardous chemicals with normal household waste. It is also illegal to dispose of these products in storm drains, creeks, rivers or streams.
The fees for disposing of the hazardous household waste will be added to your monthly utility bill. The service code "HHW" will be listed on the bill where you see the fees. The fee for disposal is:
- 7.5 gallons or less is $39.50
- 7.5 to 15 gallons is $79
- 15 to 22 gallons is $118.50
- 22 to 30 gallons is $158.50
Only residential, hazardous household waste is accepted. The facility cannot dispose of hazardous chemicals from commercial establishments.
Bulk Collection
Monthly large item/bulky collections are available on an "on-call" basis for all residential and commercial customers. You don't have to store unwanted items. You can request this monthly service on an "as needed" basis.
There is a set fee for most large items, such as furniture and appliances. Fees for collection of bulk materials such as piles of tree limbs, brush, carpet or lumber are assessed on an hourly basis and determined by the time it takes to collect the materials.
Commercial Services Overview
Base service fee for commercial services is $15.25 per month for shared use of the metal, 2, 4, 6 or 8 cubic yard commercial containers. Automated container collection varies from once to 4-times per week for businesses and multifamily (apartment) dwellings. The size of the container and frequency of the collection is determined by the volume of waste.
The volume of waste from some businesses requires exclusive use of containers with monthly fees ranging from $42 to $251 per container. Other large businesses or apartments may require multiple containers in several locations, such as large apartment complexes, the university or the public schools.
Even larger businesses may require large 25 to 42 cubic yard industrial stationary compactors which are serviced with a "roll off" system. The "roll off" system is an on call service with charges assessed on a per haul basis. We don't provide stationary compactors so these are owned by the customer. The cost to haul to most locations in the metropolitan area is $100 per haul. The fees for the Edmond Transfer Station are in addition to the per haul fee.
Roll Off Containers
Edmond's Solid Waste Services provides open top roll off containers from 20 to 40 cubic yard capacity. Service includes a monthly container rental ($45 to $70/month depending on the container size) and hauling services at $100.00 per haul plus the transfer station disposal fee at $5 per cubic yard times the container size. Temporary roll-off containers, those used for only one or two hauls shall also be accessed with a one time delivery fee of $50.
Temporary Small Containers
Temporary small 4, 6 and 8 cubic yard container services are provided for residential or commercial customers as "on call" services for small cleanups or small roofing projects. Charges are assessed on a per haul basis every 15-days for rates from $55 to $85 per haul plus a $20 one-time container delivery charge. The delivery fee ($20) and first haul ($55 to $85) are billed immediately to prepay the first haul with a service order to automatically pickup the container in 15 days of the delivery. Customers will need to call to schedule the haul before 15-days or make arrangement to exchange empty containers before the 15 days elapse.
