Household Hazardous Waste
Improper use, storage and disposal of household hazardous waste is dangerous, and that's why Edmond Solid Waste Services wants to partner with you to make our homes and neighborhoods safer.
Doorside Collection
Edmond's Solid Waste Services now offers a more convenient way to dispose of your household hazardous waste (HHW) and e-waste (electronic waste such as TV's, VCR's, etc.). E-Waste is also collected through this program with Curbside Inc. This will ensure that e-waste will be recycled and is not disposed of along with solid waste as it used to be when collected through Bulk collection, which included charges.
You have one pick up per calendar year that is included with your regular monthly residential solid waste fees. You can still use the HHW drop off in Oklahoma City as well as additional doorstep pick-ups however fees do apply with both. We encourage you to gather all of your HHW items when you call for your initial pick-up to avoid additional costs.
How the Program Works
- Call 800-449-7587 or email your information to hotline@curbsideinc.com to request a collection. When you call the collection hotline, you will be asked several questions, including your address and the type and amount of materials available for collection.
- Schedule a collection date and a collection kit will be shipped. The collection hotline operator will fully explain the program, schedule a convenient collection date, and discuss where the kit should be safely placed outside for collection. Please tell the operator if you are a senior citizen or a disabled resident and require assistance to gather your materials.
- Prepare for the collection. The kit includes a program instruction sheet (with a hotline telephone number to call for questions) and other items to help pack and secure the household hazardous waste. All materials, such as gasoline, poisons, pesticides and aerosols, must be placed into the kit. If you have more waste than will fit in the kit, please call the hotline to discuss your options.
- Your HHW material will be collected. On the scheduled date the contractor's customer service representative will collect eligible materials directly from your home. They will sort and pack the materials for proper disposal. You will receive a postage-paid survey card to complete and mail to the City of Edmond to help track the program.
Tips for the HHW pick up program:
- Be sure to collect all of your HHW material to have picked up once a year. The program allows for additional pick ups, however a fee is charged for more than one pick up per calendar year.
