City Council meetings are the second and fourth Monday of every month. The meetings take place in the City Council Chambers located at 20 S Littler Ave, Edmond, OK. The meetings can also be watched live on the City of Edmond's government access channel which airs on Channel 20 for Cox Cable subscribers and on Channel 99 for AT&T U-verse, or On-Demand.

The City of Edmond Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation Program assists several low- to moderate-income homeowners every year with making their home safe and accessible. Please call 359-4694 for an application and to see if you are eligible.
As soon as you decide on a date, you should call and check availability. The larger room often books months in advance. You can reserve the room by paying just the deposit, then rental fees are due 2 weeks before the rental date. However, the Downtown Community Center will rent on short notice if the room and staff are available for a short notice event.
You must sign a rental agreement and pay the security deposit to reserve a room. Rental fees are not due until two weeks before your event.
You will need to end your event in time to remove tables, stack chairs, collect all decorations and belongings, vacuum and be ready to leave by the end of the contracted rental time. 9:00 p.m. is the latest time you can contract to rent.

The EMT-B license incentive is $80/month. If you have a EMT-P license and have been approved by the Edmond Fire Department's Medical Director you will receive $1.30 per hour for Suppression employees and $1.83 per hour for Non-suppression employees as the incentive.

Yes, a permit is required. The homeowner should verify that the plumbing contractor is licensed with the City of Edmond and has pulled a permit prior to commencing any work. The ONLY EXCEPTION to this is EMERGENCY REPAIRS. When repairs are performed in an emergency, the permit must be pulled the next business day.

The City of Edmond has an Upcycle terra cotta rain barrel on permanent display in the 1st floor lobby of the Planning & Public Works Building at 10 S Littler Ave. If you have questions about the program after looking at the rain barrel, please go upstairs to the Engineering Department on the 2nd floor to speak with the Event Coordinator, Jordan Peebles.

Yes! You can still reap the benefits of owning a rain barrel without gutters. Walk around your home during a rain event and observe where rain water drips from your roof line. Remember the area where you see the most drainage and place your rain barrel under that spot. Adding a “rain chain” under the roof crease in that location will help to divert the rain directly into your rain barrel.
No, each homeowner will be responsible for installing their new rain barrel.
Roll your container to the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day. The container is emptied mechanically from inside a Republic Services® vehicle cab. The driver uses a joystick, much like those used in video games, to operate the automated arm that picks up the container and empties the garbage into the truck. The container is set back in place, and the Republic Services truck moves on to the next stop.
Be sure your container is at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day to ensure collection. Or, you may set your container out the night before, if you wish.
Only the acceptable recycling items may be placed in your recycling container.

The container will need to be sorted out and then sent to the landfill, causing the cost to rise. It can also cause acceptable items to be thrown away.
Unfortunately there is no longer a market for, or a way to responsibly recycle, plastics #3-#7. We can still accept #1 and #2 plastics.
The carbon footprint to collect, transport and recycle glass now exceeds the benefit of recycling it. It is no longer environmentally responsible to recycle glass. We are always evaluating the benefits as well as the overall impact of recycling in order to ensure that our program is efficient and environmentally friendly.

The City of Edmond elected to provide recycle/trash collection and disposal services for the mutual benefit of all residents. Our goal is to provide the best possible service for the lowest possible cost using "economies of scale." In other words, all customers benefit collectively from lower pricing than each could obtain individually. All residents have the recycle charge included in their Solid Waste Utility; however, the participation is voluntary.

Edmond customers receive a 96-gallon refuse (trash) cart, a 96-gallon recycling collection cart and unlimited household hazardous waste (HHW) collections.
It depends, as this requirement comes from a change in shingle manufacturers’ installation instructions. Some, not all, shingle manufacturers now state (in their instructions) that their product cannot be installed on solid lumber sheathing wider than a 1x6. This is due to the possibility for expansion/contraction of the deck boards wider than a 1x6. The code does state that new roof covering material (shingles) must be installed in accordance with the manufacturers’ installation instructions. These instructions may also address the gap between boards and may require an overlay of OSB or plywood if the gaps are too wide.
The 2015 International Residential Code (IRC) does not require you to remove the existing deck material prior to installation of a new sheathing substrate except in very unusual circumstances where the existing roof framing is inadequate. Roof replacements do require the removal of all existing layers of roof covering (shingles).

Any trees growing outside of the public right-of-way are not eligible for tree work administered by the city, except through the CDBG Neighborwoods program. The City of Edmond does not currently require permits for pruning or removal of trees on residential properties. However, property owners are responsible for trees on their property, as well as in the right-of-way adjacent to their property. Provisions about maintenance responsibility for trees within the City may be found in Title 2, Chapter 92.

Yes, we do have a program that will allow you to pay approximately the same amount each month. This plan averages your monthly payments and levels out the higher bills that occur during the months of high electricity and water use. Residential customers who have been at the same address for the previous 12 months and have a $0 balance can enroll by completing the form here.
